This is an update about the key limes that we planted. We have a few that have sprouted and this one is the best of the batch and is growing pretty nicely. We've got quite a bit of growth in the last week (see the picture of last week to see the progress) and hopefully the others start putting out some new leaves over the next week or two.

New paper published in Journal of the American Chemical Society
We have a new paper that was just published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society titled "Oxidative Quenching and Degradation of Polymer-Encapsulated Quantum Dots: New Insights into the Long-Term Fate and Toxicity of Nanocrystals in Vivo". Check out the link below to read the abstract and download the full article if you get access to it.

We had some key limes the other day so I collected the seeds in an attempt to germinate them. Key limes are a great fruit to grow from seed because they grow true to seed and can produce fruit within a few years, whereas many fruits do not grow true and most take many years before there is a chance of fruit production. Here are a few pics. I gave a little extra help to two of the seeds by removing the seed coat. The others, I just allowed to germinate to the point where I could just see the root coming out and then planted them. They haven't sprouted yet, but I'll post updates on the progress of the seedlings.
