Key limes are a great fruit to grow from seed because they grow true to seed and can produce fruit within a few years, whereas many fruits do not grow true and most take many years before there is a chance of fruit production. Here are a few pics. I gave a little extra help to two of the seeds by removing the seed coat. The others, I just allowed to germinate to the point where I could just see the root coming out and then planted them. Highlighted in a recent Georgia Tech new release, these beads show promise in blood and urine diagnostics as well as in biodefense. The beads are loaded with both semiconductor nanocrystals (QDs) and iron oxide nanoparticles, giving them tunable optical properties as well as magnetic properties. This work was recently published in the ACS journal Analytical Chemistry.
